What is a Vampire?

The vampire legend dates back to Ancient Egypt, the Garden of Eden and maybe even the beginning of humankind.  In today’s world they are seen on TV, in the movies and around the globe.

 

But where does a 21st century Vampire go

for a night on the town?

In San Francisco there is a hidden place,

a nightclub where Vampires gather called Club V.

It’s down an alley and through a secret door.

There’s music, dancing, drinks and dreams for sale.

 

 

This is the basis for our project...a series of 7 short video artworks each one installed separately on top of a printed mural integrating the video narrative into a larger display.  The videos are exhibited on monitors laid directly over the mural or projected directly onto venue walls depending on the size and needs of the venue. The project is called "Five Dreams & a Drop of Blood".

 

Each video lasts 1-4 minutes and is shown on a loop. They are compelling, surreal, hallucinogenic and plunge the viewer into a story experience. The installation itself is flexible. The number of pieces exhibited, the size specifications, optional soundtrack, format and technology can be different at every venue where Five Dreams is shown.

 

 The Dreams are preceded by a prelude called The Crow’s Journey and climaxes with a montage of images inside the club. All of the scenes mix nature and the environment, music, dance, magical realism, horror, and a search for personal identity and acceptance. Silicon Valley Wizardry blends a sense of real and unreal.

 

Five Dreams seeks to push the boundaries of traditional film, genre and form as it crosses over into a world of visual art and technology.
